About the Program
Fundamental information security practices will be discussed that are applicable to estate planning organizations of all sizes. Topics will include asset management; protection against email phishing and ransomware; more secure Zoom videoconferencing; mobile device security; etc. Links to various security resources will be provided. The presentation’s aim is to provide practical tips that can help with protecting your client’s data. 

About the Speaker
Janine L. Spears is an Associate Professor in Cleveland State University`s Information Systems department where she teaches and conducts research on information security. She recently served on the Board of the Northern Ohio InfraGard chapter. Professor Spears has won awards on an experiential learning course she developed where students partner with non-profit organizations to conduct a security risk assessment. Prior to joining CSU, she was a professor at DePaul University’s School of Computing in Chicago where she taught security courses for 7 years. Dr. Spears led the development of the GRC (governance, risk management, and compliance) degree concentration in DePaul’s Masters in Cybersecurity degree program. While in Chicago, she served on the Board of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE). Professor Spears holds a PhD in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business, and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.

Continuing Education – EPC Cleveland will request approval for this program from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. A certificate of completion will be available for those AEP®, CPA, and CWS designees who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements. You must be attentive on the webinar for at least 60 minutes of programming to receive credit for any of the credentials listed above.
