DESCRIPTION:\nSPECIAL JOINT MEETING WITH FPA OF NORTHEAST OHIO \n2013 Federal Legislative Update – Are We Finally Out of the Woods? \n  \nAbout the program… \nWe survived the “Perfect Storm” – or did we?  The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 promised us “permanent” estate and gift tax rules, but the President has already proposed lowering exemptions and raising the rates back to 2009 levels, and other changes.   Capital gains and AMT got patched and pushed forward, and extenders got extended, but mere months later, everyone’s talking about “tax reform”.   Congress “kicked the debt can” a bit down the road, but could we be facing another crisis if fiscal conservatives draw another line in the sand?  And what about retirement plan limits and stretch IRAs? Our clients (and maybe you) are wondering if it’s safe to come out of their knuckerholes yet.   Matt will be fresh back from the SBCA meetings in Washington - come find out the latest on what the tea leaves say Congress may be brewing for us.   \n  \nMatthew F. Kadish, Esq. has an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU, and clerked at the U.S. Tax Court.  His practice includes tax planning for individuals, businesses and exempt organizations, as well as tax controversy, including audits and appeals before the IRS and, where need be, in court.   Since 2009, Matt has also been advising clients (both resident and nonresident) with unreported foreign accounts on how best to come forward to minimize their risk and exposure, and recently served as an expert in a Federal criminal foreign bank account reporting (FBAR) case. Matt was recently named Best Lawyers’ 2013 Cleveland Tax Law “Lawyer of the Year.”  He is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC), and has been honored with the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland’s Distinguished Estate Planner Award (2012) and Exceptional Service Award (2010). Away from his desk, Matt is in his 34th year performing with the national cast of People International, Inc. (“PII”), and (perhaps more to the point) serves as CEO and VP (Legislation) of the Small Business Council of America (SBCA), the voice of privately owned business in Washington on income and estate tax, benefits and health care matters, and on behalf of the SBCA in 2007, he testified at the invitation of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee on tax relief for small businesses.   \n  \nLaura Malone, CAP · FPA of Northeast Ohio Program Chair & \nMichael W. Matile · EPC Cleveland Program Chair \n  \nReservation Policy – All attendees are encouraged to register in advance and walk-in reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only. Meeting cost is $25 for members of either organization when paid in advance before noon 05/13/13.   Meeting cost is $35 for members of either organization at the door and $35 for guests. If you reserve and are unable to attend, please call the office to cancel by noon 05/13/13 to avoid a no-show reservation billing. \n  \nNew this season! Purchase a table at the monthly luncheon… $200 / six guests.(Submit names to admin@epccleveland.org by 05/10/13.) \n  \nContinuing Education – Credit will be requested for this program from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders. In addition, a certificate of completion will be available for those CTFAs, CPAs, and CWS designees that feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements. \n \nTo Reserve, Click "RSVP Now!" below!\n \nThis meeting is sponsored by:\n \n \n
