DESCRIPTION:\n  \nLOCATION:        The City Club, 850 Euclid Ave., Cleveland (Reduced parking fees are available on a space-available basis at Ampco Euclid Gateway Garage (740 Euclid Ave, entrances on Euclid & Prospect) to those that enter after 11:01 am and exit before 2:29 pm. Guests must present ticket to The City Club for validation.) \n  \nAbout the program… \nThis presentation will give a brief overview of some key components of HB 479 (2012), most notably its provisions regarding “legacy trusts” (i.e., Ohio domestic asset protection trusts).  The program will discuss some potential uses of legacy trusts and will warn of some pitfalls that might not be apparent from the face of the statute.  \n  \nJohn E. Sullivan, III is a founding member of the Beachwood, Ohio law firm of Sullivan & Sullivan, Ltd. He graduated from Boston College in 1980; from the University Of Texas School Of Law in 1984; and is admitted to practice in Ohio, Massachusetts, Illinois, and numerous federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Tax Court. His practice focuses on asset protection, asset recovery, and estate and business planning. Mr. Sullivan devises complex asset protection plans (including the use of onshore and offshore trusts and companies as well as U.S. exempt property laws), and also prepares more traditional estate plans. Mr. Sullivan was named one of the “Top 100 Attorneys” in the United States by Robb Report’s Worth Magazine (December 2005). He has been quoted or cited in Bloomberg Wealth Manager, the Wall Street Journal, and Forbes.com, and he occasionally serves as an expert witness in asset protection, estate planning, and debtor-creditor suits. Mr. Sullivan is a frequent lecturer and has authored or co-authored many works. Mr. Sullivan is a principal co-author of the Ohio Asset Management Modernization Act (2012), which allows for Ohio asset protection trusts and which made other changes to Ohio’s trust, estate, and debtor-creditor laws.  \nMichael W.
