DESCRIPTION:\nAbout the Program\n The presentation will address the importance of planning for incapacity and long-term care as we age, as well as planning for individuals who are born with a disability. It will focus on the legal documents we should make sure are in place and will include an overview of the government support programs available to those with lifelong or acquired disabilities. We will discuss the importance of protecting eligibility for these benefits and services with the documents we draft.\n \nAbout the Speaker\n Janet L. Lowder is a Certified Elder Law Attorney who has spent her career helping families plan for disability, whether that be for a child with special needs or for elderly parents. She was a founder of Community Fund Management Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides the Master Trust and the Pooled Medicaid Payback Trust for individuals with disabilities. She has served on various boards and committees, including serving as past-president of the Special Needs Alliance, past Co-Chair of the Long-Term Care, Medicaid and Special Needs Trust Committee of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association, and chair of the OSBA Elder Law Section for two terms.  Janet has received many awards, including the 2023 Distinguished Estate Planner award from the EPC Cleveland and was named as Lawyer of the Year in Elder Law 4 times and Trust and Estates once by Best Lawyers. Janet lives in Bratenahl with her husband and two terriers.\n \nTed Robbins, CPA, CFP® â 2023-2024 Program Chair\n \nContinuing Education – EPC Cleveland will request approval for this program from the CFP® Board of Standards for CFP® designation holders, from the Ohio Department of Insurance for OH Insurance CE, and from the Supreme Court of Ohio for Ohio attorneys to receive CLE credit. The website will be updated no later than one week before the program with approval status.
